Cookie Time Round 2

I'm trying to be a good mummy and have yummy cookies for my Darling Daughter to munch on. I have visions of her gazing up at me adoringly munching said cookie with a glass of milk and sporting a cute milk mustache!

I've also recently learned that both my sister (who lives with us) and Lovely Hubby love peanut butter.

To my delight I discovered that peanut butter cookies require minimal ingredients and faffing around.

Check out my previous post 'Cookie Time'. They are yummers and only have 3 ingredients....my kinda baking. If a recipe has more than five ingredients it tends to be a disaster!

The ingredient limit made this next recipe a bit daunting but ...

Here you have it...

...Nom nom nom!

First time for everything, usually I fail big style at baking but after a few false starts with ingredients I now have a biscuit box full of yummy, less basic peanut butter cookies.

Only complaint on my part is I wish I had a bigger baking sheet. It took forever to bake all the actual biscuits. I had to do it in five batches. It's my birthday soon, mayhap I will ask the birthday fairy for an extra big baking tray. (bloody hell what a rock and roll life I lead!)

Em...my only other complaint is that they are a bit soggy. A trait I like but assumed noone else would BUT Lovely Hubby, Darling Daughter and Lil' Sis' love them too! So it's not really a complaint as it doesn't actually matter.

Next project is to perfect choc chip cookies, suggestions welcome xxx

Meal Planning Monday 7th August 2012

Sunday - Steak Sarnie a la Jamie Oliver's 30 minute meals cook book. Sunday has been and gone, we had it and it was awesome. I don't do the full meal from the cook book just the sandwich and a salad from the same book but different meal. I can't remember the name of it (and I am too lazy to get up off my butt and find it) bu it consists of spinach, sundries tomatoes, pine nuts, cucumber, oil, balsamic vinegar and lemon juice. It's yummers.
Monday - Prawns done with some curry paste, rice and some broccoli on the side. Last time I had this kind off thing I just used a jar of paste this time I am using Mummysknees recipe (cheers chum).
Tuesday - Grilled chicken with pesto, roast potatoes, carrot mash and some broccoli on the side.
Wednesday - I'm going to try a new chilli recipe. It's from the Food in a Minute Website. It can be done in the slow cooker so I'll try doing it that way.
Thursday - I'm working today so we'll have pasta for tea tonight. Nice and easy!
Friday - All going well I will be out for dinner on Friday so Lovely Hubby will have cheese toasties or gets pizza or something.
Saturday - Grilled chicken with chickpea curry. It's meant to be a vegetarian dish of just the chickpea curry but Lovely Hubby gets a bit nervous if there is no meat on the plate! The chickpea curry is so simple, the recipe is on the Countdown website.
Proof if proof was needed....my actual plan...

What's everyone else having. Pop on over to At Home With Mrs M by clicking here to join in with this great Linky x

3rd Birthday Party Notsosuperscottishmummy Style Part 1

I am known to stress...in fact I earned the lovely nickname Stresshead Simpson in one jolly workplace! If there is something to stress about I'll find it. In fact if I find myself not stressing I stress because that can't be right and I must be something however small that I should be stressing about. Sure in enough, if I stop and think I find it lurking at the back of my brain.
Imagine my delight at the prospect of organizing Darling Daughters 3rd Birthday Party. I really wanted her and her friends to have an awesome time but not at the expense of my sanity!
Luckily for me I found a lovely page on Facebook called Mama's Style just before I started my panic about what to do for Darling Daughters 3rd birthday. Mama's Style is full of awesome finds for loads of things for kids and Mummies. The lovely Mama's Style lady has since set up a lovely blog of her own, it has cool ideas, finds and just stuff it's great, go see for yourself...at www.mamasstyle.com.
Anyhoo it was here that I found some great ideas for The Party.
I wanted something simple but fun. I had a look through The Mama's Style pictures and found some great ideas but the one that seemed to have the simplest things to make was the rainbow theme. My only worry here was that Darling Daughters wee friend had a rainbow party earlier in the year and I was worried her Mummy might think I was copying but I wasn't. And besides I was doing different things as she did. Her mummy happens to be Superfitmummy who is a good chum so even if she thought I was copying (which I wasn't) she wouldn't mind.
I also wanted to have some great decorations to make it special for Darling Daughter and again with the help of Mama's Style I found a great website called www.mummyslittlehelper.co.nz. Full of great ideas and supplies for kids parties. I ordered them on Friday and they arrived on Monday....how awesome is that? I was super impressed.
I would love to have done a dinosaur party, fairy party, sesame street party, toy story party, smurf party...the list is endless but decorations aside food ideas for any of the other options might have been tricky for the likes of me.
So imagine my delight when I found Care Bear stuff. Yippee skippe. I fricking loved The Care Bears when I was a nipper and as luck would have it Darling Daughter loves them too. Granted the new style Care Bears aren't as cute as the old style ones but The Care Bear them and rainbow theme go well together and The Care Bear stuff looked lovely and colorful and wasn't going to break the bank. I wanted the whole Care Bear thing to be a surprise but I wanted to make sure Darling Daughter approved so I checked with her and she was super stoked with the idea.
I'm the kind of person who likes/needs to have everything matching, some may call it OCD! I struggled not to blow the budget on getting every little thing I could find that was Care Bear related. I managed to ration myself to a tablecloth, banner, cups, plates, napkins, masks and blowers. Your probably wondering what else was available seeing as that actually seems a lot but there was two sizes of plates, cups and napkins, straws, party bags, notebooks, table decoration.....the list goes on. The only thing I would have liked to get that I couldn't find was a Care Bear teddy. Lovely Hubby would also have liked it if we could find Care Bear costumes for either her or us. That would have been cute! Oh yeah I also liked the idea of putting up a Care Bear Poster and getting the kids in there masks to stand next to it and have there photo taken but I couldn't find a poster in time.
Back to the food. I picked things that looked simple to do and fitted the theme in the hope that as they were simple they would look as good as the web pictures I found them on. But surprise surprise with me at the helm nothing really turned out as it should have EXCEPT the marshmallows dipped in chocolate. My own idea and hardly difficult but they looked cool. Even the rainbow cloud cupcakes my Little Sister made suffered due to my input but they tasted awesome.
I'll share some of our failures and triumphs in the next few blogs.

How to Get Your Daughter to Let You Brush Her Hair

Darling Daughter has koala ear hair today!

Demonstrated by the photo. Bit lopsided for my liking but I was in a rush for work and who knows what it would be like if daddy did it!

The other week she had dinosaur tail hair, to match her dinosaur t-shirt! A ponytail with three plaits coming out of it!

Darling daughter HATES having her hair brushed and tied back! But if I leave it down it bugs her because it gets in her face! As well as that she tends to pop her food in it for later. So in an effort to get her to let me do it with out a screaming match I am making up nonsense so she'll let me at her!

I'm getting to be quite imaginative with the tales I spin her in order to get tasks she hates done!

Cool Idea for Your Linen Cupboard

I managed to squeeze a bit of daytime T.V into my busy schedule today and got a great idea from the talk show The Talk. They were talking about reorganizing cupboards and stuff.

One of the suggestions for linen cupboards was to keep bed sets together by storing each set in one of the pillowcases.

I realize my explanation may not be the best so I googled it to get a picture and found this on the Martha Stewart site, click on the image to see probably a better explanation.

My linen is all over the ocean, in different cupboards, under the bed.... I had a big clear out of junk last week so have some cupbaord space free so I will definitely be trying this, just need the fancy linen to do it with!
