Today we have some lovely photography from my Mum! I packed them (Mum, my Stepdad and my Sister) off on a boat trip to Kapiti Island with strict instructions to return with pictures. Here they are ...

Kapiti Island Today 29/1/13

5.40pm ...

Taken from Raumati Beach again!

The troops and I spent a couple of hours on the beach in an attempt to get some respite from the heat!

A sweaty one today!

The yucky sweat dripping down your face kind of day!

Great to get down to the sea side where it's a bit cooler!

It may be slightly cooler but the sun is still super strong!

Think I may have even got a bt of sun on my legs!

Terrible example for a pharmacist to set BUT I've given up putting sunscreen on my legs!

They never seem to get any colour either way!

The tide was very low which makes Kapiti Island look real close!

Bit of a nuisance having to walk for ages to get into the sea!

I'll hopefully have some views looking from the Island tomorrow!

My crimbo pressie to Mum, Stepdad and Lil' Sis' was a trip over to the island!

Kapiti Island Today 28/1/13

Taken from Raumati Beach! Apologies to the lovely family photo bombing my picture!

The Kapiti Region is going to be basking in glorious sunshine for the week! Perfect for the arrival of my parents!

I reckon they will be bored of the beach by the end of the week but we must make the most of it before the weather changes!

Lovely Hubby and I went for a swim while Granny and Grandad played with the babies and Hound on the shore!

Funnily enough they are finding it hotter here than they did in OZ over the weekend! But it was a bit breezy at the beach so they weren't tempting to swim themselves!

Kapiti Island Today 23/1/13

6pm ...

Taken from good old Queen Elizabeth Park on the Kapiti Coast again! Another family run though the dunes tonight! Great stuff!

There won't be any 'Kapiti Island Today' for a couple of days! The Cherubs and I are off up to Auckland to visit chums for the weekend! We'll have to find a beautiful view to post about up there!

Man it's getting windy, hope it dies down for our flight out of here! It's going to be crazy enough flying solo with The cherubs. Glad it's a short flight! Hopefully the excitement will distract them both and we'll be there before we know it and we'll have lovely chums to be reunited with at the other end ... Then when we get back its one sleep until Mummy and Ian arrive! Woo hoo! They are making their way to OZ as we speak. Heathrow got their act together and they made it out of the country despite the SNOW!!!!!! First stop Oz for a wedding and to see my little brother then on to NZ to see us lot of hoodlums! Yaaaassssss!!!!!!!

Kapiti Island Today 23/1/13

5.55 am ...

Not the best quality picture! Its was the crack of dawn! Not great for iphone pictures! It looks like I will have to take my real (held together by a thread) camera if I'm to get decent early morning pictures! It won't be long and it will be pitch black first thing and I won't be able to even see Kapiti Island!

Today's picture was taken from Raumati Beach while I was waiting for the swimming pool to open! Nothing like an early morning swim to wake you up! Only problem with this early morning exercise is that I'm ready for my bed once the 'get the kids to daycare' routine is finished!

I always imagine I will be the only one crazy enough to be doing something like swimming, running or going to the gym at stupid o'clock but no there always seem to be an annoyingly large amount of people in the pool, at the beach or in the gym with me!

Kapiti Island Today 22/1/13 (featuring Queen Elizabeth Park)

6pm ...

Taken from the awesome Queen Elizabeth Park.

Rather out of character but fitting to our new lifestyle (healthy and fit) we went as a family for a walk/jog/sprint round the inland and coastal track.

A pretty hard task at the best of times but made harder by the hills, heat and heavy load in the pram (rather hefty 13 month old and a 3 and a half year old). The fresh air was great for the kids and Lovely Hubby, The Hound and I all got a great workout!

Especially for the Fiona at Coombe Mill I took some pictures ...

It's a great place not just for the tracks but the beach, grassy areas to picnic in and spend the day playing, the tram and lots more. Last year there was a fledgling festival called Kapiti Fest held at one of the starting points. Hopefully it will be back again this year and will grow and grow.

Kapiti Island Today 21/1/13

5pm ...

Another corker today! Not a cloud in the sky! a bit of a breeze ... Perfect! (Not perfect actually because I wanted to go out in the kayak, bit breezy for a beginner like me!)

We all went down once Lovely Hubby had finished work. Darling Daughter and I went in for a splash and a play in the surf. It was super breezy and wavy so we couldn't get too carried away.

I really wanted to dive in and go for a swim but I am too scared to go at the best of times and even more so when it's choppy! Who knows where the waves would take me and what creatures would be swimming about at my feet! Eeeeeeekkkk!!!!

We saw someone trying to fish, people body boarding, a kite surfer (pictured can you see him?), a windsurfer and a big washed up tree (pictured, I really hope you can spot that).

Maybe one day we will live actually at the beach and everyday will be a beach day!

Kapiti Island Today 20/1/13

The Kapiti Coast really turned it on today! It's been a particularly shitty week weather wise! Even a bit chilly on Friday there!

Nice weather for the annual Surf Casting Competition at Raumati Beach! I would like to say more but I'm not sure what it is! I originally thought it was something to do with surfing but I have since learnt that it is some kind of fishing. Ad there my knowledge on the subject ends!

It looks like we're on track for a nice week! Here's hoping it will stay for a bit longer than a week! Mummy arrives a week tomorrow! She will not be amused if its not hot and sunny!

I can't wait to see her though, nice weather or not! It's coming up for a year since we last saw her and Ian (my stepdad). She's here for nearly 7 weeks which sounds like ages but it will just fly by!

Kapiti Island Today 15/1/13

10.45am ...

Taken from Raumati Beach! The tide was the highest I've ever seen it!

We've not made it down to the beach for a few days but The Cherubs and I were driving by today so we stopped for a photo opportunity.

As you can see the weather is pretty grotty. In fact it's been torrential rain on and off all day! It's still hot and muggy though. We got caught in it between shops today, Maisie and I had sandals on so our feet got wet but it felt really odd because the rainwater was warm. I've never been anywhere that has such heavy rain so often. Ok in Scotland it rains a lot but it was never torrential often, just wet often. But here (in N.Z) when it rains more often than not its torrential! It's been so heavy across the region today that I believe there has been a lot of flooding. Lets hope this yucky weather decks off before my family get here in a coupe of weeks! They might not come back if its like this!

Another one from Lovely Hubby today! He was back at Queen Elizabeth Park for a cheeky wee run! Looks like he took this from the first hill on the Inland Track.

Not much time for chat or blogging tonight as we are off out ... Willpower on my New Years resolutions to be tested further still with alcohol around!

Kapiti Island Today 9/1/13

Taken from the esplanade at Paraparaumu Beach.

The day started of rainy, not complaining just sharing! No room for complaining after the awesome weather we have had. It was quite nice not having to put sunblock on the lids and dressing them in normal clothes.

By the time I finished work it was dry and the clouds were breaking. Bit windy though, stormy in fact! Didn't stop the man in my picture and his family collecting pipis from the sea. (Not sure what pipis are, all I know is that they are some kind of little shell fish for eating, my facts are from Nature Boy) *trots of to google 'pipis'*

Kapiti Island Today 8/1/13

7.15am (I think!)

Taken from the coastal track at Queen Elizabeth Park (again).

 I'm a bit vague on the time because I entrusted my photo taking (and phone) to Lovely Hubby today!

The fitness bug is running off on him! He is worse than me at making excuses (although he will deny this). But after my hideously early gym venture he was of down to the dunes to run with the dog!

 He's even attempted to make some healthy dinners for us and is off the booze too, good lad that he is!

Another glorious day here on the Kapiti Coast! I couldn't decide which picture to post so I did both!

Despite being at work for the day I managed to get down to the beach twice today! I was up at the crack of dawn and the babies were in there bed a wee bit late! So what! I can handle an early morning and the babies will survive getting to bed a little later....

It's been a while, I won't bore you with why but I am starting some new year resolutions early!

 

Still sweaty weather here but no sun and rain threatening each day! Big change from last week when the sun was shining and it was HOT, HOT, HOT! Even by kiwi standards!!!! Spare a thought for us Scottish folk!
