Playpen for your Toddler ... Not a Bad Idea!

We got a playpen for Second Born Son this week! We never had the need for Darling Daughter. We had a stair gate but other than that there weren't many hazards and Maisie was quite happy with some toys in front of her. (Overuse of the word we apologies!)

Second Born Son is a different kettle of fish! We like to call him 'Adventurous Archie'! He can bum shuffle like no other. Turn your back and he's ripping my books apart, eating some wires, in about the DVD player etc, pulling the toilet roll apart, heading for the back step or eating dead flies or leaves. We try to pen him into the living room with toys or furniture but he hates it and just screeches!

The final straw came the other day when he had an argument with the dog!

#Saturday is Caption Day 8th December 2012

Archie Boys first Christmas party. Very proud he wasn't scared of Santa! Lots of boys and girls much bigger than him were screaming like banshees and hysterical at the sight of Santa! Archie clearly thought he was just another source of food! I should just have wrapped up a sandwich for him and he would have been delighted!

Kapiti Island Today 20/11/12

Kapiti Island Today 3.15pm

It's been a sweaty, clammy day. When the sun did come out (on and off) it was hot, hot, hot!

The Cherubs and I took The Hound to the beach to stretch his legs. The tide was high so we just went a little way along, parked up and threw some sticks for The Hound. Archie sat in his pram and thought this was hilarious. Maisie dug in the sand and collected shells. Seeing as it was so warm I dipped my toe in the sea to see if it was warm too. It was! Result! It won't be long till we will be getting our swimming gear on for our trips to the beach!

Our little happy scene was interrupted when a scary big dog came along and chatted to Rocko. Rocko has small dog syndrome and is known to really annoy dogs bigger than him! Not normally a major concern as the scary big dogs trot off giving Rocko a look of disdain over there shoulder but when I clocked the owner (someone I know to be unsavoury) I started to worry a bit for Rocko and Maisie. Both annoying little creatures dotting around a big dog with a scary owner!

They carried on down the beach but turned back so I attempted to herd my mob back to the car before they reached us! I failed and the other dog caught up to us in the car park. Always a worry regardless of the dog and its owner when one is on the lead and the other is off! In my panic to get to the car I rammed the pram into someone's car. While I backed up Rocko yelped and I screamed! I think my scream scared the other dog off!

I felt really silly but I am cursed with an over active imagination! The other dog was probably harmless BUT knowing the owner I just did not know what the dog had been trained to do!

What a tit I felt! No one batted an eyelid at my scream though thankfully, nor did the people who's car I rammed!!!!!

Kapiti Island Today 14th November 2012

Kapiti Island today 6.25pm ...

The forecast this week was pretty poor. We have been spoilt lately with the lovely weather. Sunday was to be the beginning of hideous rain BUT Sunday was as far as it went.

However despite the lovely weather today is our first day at the beach!

Tonight I decided to dust down our baby carrier! A bit fairer than Lovely Hubby pushing both Cherubs along in the double buggy (its the wrong height for me I tell you). I took the boy on my back and he took the girl in the pram. Although we swapped half way! Maaaaaaan our boy is heavy!

Archie Boy was casual as ever given it was a potentially exciting new mode of transport for him! If not a bit confused by the fact that he wasn't in the buggy! Ha! He was blathering away and flapping his wings before long though.

I thought Maisie Boo would be tired but she enjoyed getting out and pushing the pram herself (bit safer when the pram is empty). It turned into a game on the way back. Soooo funny I was the baby/Maisie and Maisie was the mummy. 'Mummy' wanted me to get in the buggy so of course I obliged but surprise surprise my big ass was never getting in that baby shaped space. Boy did 'Mummy' laugh! So cute. I as 'the baby' had to hold on to the lead of the pram and hold 'Mummy's' hand while crossing the road. Such a cute age. I reckon it's probably a good learning point, the role reversal, a chance for Maisie to realise why I nag her so much sometimes. Even when we got home she got her self dressed for bed, put her dirty washing in the washing basket and tidied her shoes away WITHOUT BEING ASKED ... Soooooooo Cute :)

#Saturday is Caption Day 10th November 2012

Oh yeah. It's the weekend, yahoo!

We all have that celebrity looky likey (some more flattering than others, I have been likened to some horrors), even small, sweet Archie boys ...

As the title suggests this is a caption blog, caption away in the comments section if you will.

Saturday is Caption Day 20th October 2012

We had a cheeky wee holiday to Wellington last weekend ... First family holiday and we went 1 hour down the road! It may not seem adventurous but there is so much to do we had an awesome time.

Maisie's first sentence when we got home was ... 'I miss the Hotel mummy'. So cute, she was intrigued by her first hotel experience and behaved really well as did her brother.

We got loads of great pictures which I'll share over the next few weeks but I just love this one of her while she was playing at being mummy while her brother was in the bath ...

I think she is actually saying 'look at my baby he's splashing, aargh mummy he's splashing me mummy!!!'

I'm pretty sure that you lovely blog readers out there can put better words in her mouth.

Saturday is Caption Day 29th September 2012

Archie Boy has been poorly the last few weeks. The end of winter and introduction of Day Care has left him a miserable wee soul!

Until that is the beginning of the week. We started him on antibiotics and the transformation has been amazing! He's eating, playing and sleeping happily like a baby boy should.

Thank f*^%k! I thought we had bred a monster!

I got this SatCap picture of him and his sister on the day that I knew we had Archie Boy back ...

This Week in N.Z

My week in instagram pictures ...

Miss Maisie in her Sunday best offering out cups of tea.

A rare picture of the boys. Looking rather smart. This picture probably looks normal to everyone else but it looks odd to me. For some reason the instagram app made it into a mirror image! So the room behind them on the left is actuall on the right ... Weird!

And a rare picture of the girls, all be it with awful squished up wee faces but its not easy taking pictures of yourselves with an iPhone. Some folk seem to have a knack for it, I've seen lots of lovely profile pictures people have obviously taken themselves but everything time I try I look hellish !

Usually if Maisie is playing she does it in the living room, a shame really seeing as she has a lovely bedroom with lots of lovely toys. So on Monday I made a house for her favourite teddy Doug (she has three) using her princess tent and dolly furniture and accessories. We had one Doug in the cot, one Doug in the highchair and one Doug in the bath. I popped Archie in to see what he thought and he loved it. I left them to it but after 5 minutes Maisie came and told me she was scared, on further questioning in order to stop her being scared I had to take Archie out the tent??? Not sure I understand but hey ho!
I used this picture as my #SatCap picture click here to check it out.

Beach time after kindy on Wednesday. Her face isn't dirty it's the remnants of face paints! For a little girl who hated the beach when we first came here 20 months ago she sure does love it now!

Me and the hound enjoyed a cherub free Friday morning stroll on the beach. It was glorious day, sunny enough for jandels/flip flops /thongs and sunglasses but chilly enough for my quilted jacket. Read about this particular trip to the beach here, a lesson in nosiness for me.

You can tell the days I was working by the lack of picture from that day ... I've got a busy work week next week so maybe I'll take some pictures at work!

Saturday is Caption Day 18th August 2012

Here we have my effort for the week. The Hound is looking quite proud to be sat next to his little brother but Archie's look could be taken two ways...

'excuse me what exactly do you think your doing Rocko'

Or

'you are awesome Rocko!'

What do you they are both thinking?
