... get fitter, eat healthier, drink less, have fun with the kids... DAY 5

Get Fitter

  • 20 minute walk with The Hound
  • Back to normality tomorrow for us all so we had to make the most of the good weather (until next weekend hopefully!). After We headed back down to the beach and spent 3 hours kayaking and playing on the beach and in the sea! For some reason I thought kayaking would be really good for you but I googled it and only 230 calories burned per hour! Disappointing BUT I'm pretty sure between farting around getting everyone ready to get to the beach and unpacking ready to enjoy the beach and carting the kayak around we probably burned 2300 calories!!!!!
  • The aim of the game today was to keep Maisie awake all day so she went to bed at a civilised time! In order to kill two birds with one stone (make that 3, I felt guilty because we had been out having fun all day and Rocko had a really pathetic walk this morning) I took Maisie and The Hound to Queen Elizabeth Park before tea for a walk/run! Queen Elizabeth Park is an awesome park which leads out on to a lovely beach but also has an inland track for walking, running or biking. It's quite hilly though and Maisie loves going fast in the pushchair so wanting to keep her happy every time she screeched 'there's a hill mummy'. I ran down said hill and attempted to run up the one after! She found it hilarious! I did not. BUT it must have been an awesome work out. The poor dog was struggling by the end too! I kept him on the lead because it was busy so he had no choice to keep up!

Eat Healthier

  • Nutritious breakfast of 5 mini chocolate Santas.
  • Lunch - I tried one of Archie's peanut butter sandwiches yesterday and was surprised at how good it was so I joined the kids and had one peanut butter sandwich and one vegemite and cheese one.
  • After noon tea of the usual nut mix.
  • I was a bit naughty and had some crisps when we got home!
  • Dinner - pasta, bacon and veg

Drink Less (alcohol, more water)

Zero alcohol. Really fancied a glass of wine after such a busy day/weekend but of to make a cup of tea instead!

Probably managed about 3 litres today! Entirely necessary due to activity and heat today

Have Fun With The Kids

See points 2 and 3 under the first heading. Such a good weekend having fun with the babies.

First weigh in of the year tomorrow! Not weighed myself since before Christmas so I will be interested to see what the damage is! 5 days into starting some good habits though so fingers crossed!

  2. Well done, every little helps. I'm sure you are right about all those calories burnt off. And how are you meant to eat properly when there's still chocolate santas about :)
As I said in my post I don't think it matters if you keep doing things we're trying not to - but more about what we have achieved.
Well done and thank you for linking up.

    1. Surely chasing after The Cherubs alone is enough of a work out! If only!

  5. Wow that is one strict regime I could never stick to. You must have such determination! Love the bit out at the park though. Sounds awesome there, take the camera next time, I'd love to see some photos! Thanks for linking up with Country Kids.

    1. Trying so hard to be disciplined, getting harder as time goes on but that's the key to success I guess!
I'll certainly take some picks for you! It's a great place down at Queen Elizabeth Park, would be great to live even closer to it though!

  6. I have no discipline when it comes to exercise and diet but I am lucky to have a fast metabolism for the moment but I'm sure that will change as I age so I will have to start being more strict. I don't bother with alcohol on the whole as I'm still breastfeeding but I really need to drink more water so I will start from today thanks to your inspiration :)
The beach sounds brilliant and so much fun.

    1. I used to be a skinny chick! Now indeed to try and create my own fast metabolism!
As for the water drinking I try to get the majority out the way early in the day, leaving plenty of time to run back and forward to the toilet!
The beach is awesome BUT ill never get used to the nuisance that is SAND!
      Thanks for stopping by x
